DescriptionCanyon Diablo Meteorite
Meteor Crater, Coconino County
The undisputed quintessential American meteorite, Canyon Diablo associated with the Barringer Meteor Crater in Arizona, is a spectacular coarse octahedrite Iron. This highly collectible example is a true classic with incredible 'thumbprint' regmaglypts, including some relatively enormous scoops, and even one tiny hole through the extended wall of one such crater. A brownish color covers the varied, and complicated, surface of this naturally sculptural example. Weighing 4 kilograms (9 pounds), this specimen is as sizable as it is visually stunning. This is one highly aesthetic and superb sample of the collectible American Iron.
