    Description

    Canyon Diablo Meteorite
    Iron, IAB-MG
    Meteor Crater, Coconino County
    Arizona, USA
    Found: 1891

The undisputed quintessential American meteorite, Canyon Diablo is a top Iron popular the world over. Associated with the Barringer Meteor Crater in Arizona, this iconic material has long been sought after by collectors. This piece of the octahedrite offers a lovely and consistent appearance over its dark, rich coating with hints of desert patina amid numerous shallow regmaglypt 'thumbprint' indentations over its varied surface. This heavy specimen weighs 4.4 kilograms (9.7 pounds) and features a 'growth fold' resulting in a singular deep crevice. This representation is quite stable and provides a fine combination of size, aesthetics and form. There is an elegant simplicity to the piece, and it belongs in a display case.
    Overall Measurements: 5.55 x 4.05 x 3.46 inches (14.10 x 10.28 x 8.80 cm), weighs 4.4 kilograms (9.73 pounds)

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
