    Canyon Diablo Meteorite
    Iron coarse octahedrite - IAB-MG
    Meteor Crater, Coconino County
    Arizona, USA

From the quintessential locality for American Meteorites, this exceptional example of the Canyon Diablo known as "The Lynx" is associated with Meteor Crater in Arizona - the most celebrated impact feature in the world. First identified as a Meteorite crater by the legendary Daniel Barringer, the vast "depression" is about three quarters of a mile across and some 600 feet deep! From an old collection, this specimen is currently in the personal collection of "Meteorite Men" star Geoff Notkin of Aerolite Meteorites. With a zoomorphic shape reminiscent of the head of a wild cat, this type of rare example is highly sought after by collectors for the unusual shape and features. This "natural" piece has reddish patina, especially the primary face, but both sides are appealing, intriguing and impactful. This is a true classic in all respects.
    Overall Measurements: 6.89 x 5.91 x 2.26 inches (17.50 x 15.00 x 5.73 cm), weighs 5.8 lbs (2.63 kg.)
