Campo del Cielo Meteorite with Stand
    Iron, coarse octahedrite
    Gran Chaco, Argentina

As impressive as the Chelyabinsk meteorite "event" was, chances are the one that provided this massive souvenir was way more exciting. Imagine a twenty pound metal object traveling at several hundred miles per hour impacting next to you, out on the plains of the Gran Chaco. Imagine a lot of these raining down from the sky. If this happened during the last 10,000 years or so, somebody was probably there to witness the event. You can bet it ended up in the local mythology and folklore. Even today, the impressive heft of the wildly sculpted, silvery object grabs your attention, combining that cool metallic look with concave regmaglypts and scoops. After surface cleaning, this one was given a protective coat of a lacquer to preserve the luster from tarnish and dust. It comes with a custom metal stand to show off its exotic features (including that it resembles a bird in shape with head, crest and feathers).
    Overall Measurements: 8.0 x 5.8 x 15.9 inches (20.3 x 14.6 x 40.5 cm), weighs 9.29 kg (20.5 lbs.)
    Offered at no reserve.
