    Campo del Cielo Meteorite Cube
    Iron, IAB-MG
    Chaco, Argentina
    Found: 1576

This impressive cube has been made out of the famed Camp del Cielo Meteorite from Argentina. This stout example weighs in at 1,069 grams and measures just over 2-inches. Each face on this rare offering has been cut and exhibits both a metallic and dull luster that has been etched to reveal the broad Widmanst├Ątten pattern. The unique crystallization, also referred to as Thomson structures, is diagnostic of certain octahedrite meteorites. The elongated crystals of Nickel-Iron are interwoven "belts" of Kamacite and Taenite bands referred to as "lamellae." The light and dark silvery-gray of the patterned banding adds both contrast and intrigue to this robust specimen from outer space. There are other natural inclusions present creating a complex and aesthetic appearance.
    Overall Measurements: 2.06 x 2.06 x 2.02 inches (5.24 x 5.22 x 5.14 cm), weighs 1,069 grams

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
