The plaque was painted by Lucie (Luce) Mansuy-Dotin, a Limoges enamellist and daughter of the famed enamel painter A.C. Dotin. Mansuy-Dotin was known for reproducing and adapting Renaissance designs. The present work appears to have been inspired by Guido Reni's Cristo crocifisso con la Madonna, san Giovanni Evangelista e santa Maria Maddalena, executed circa 1617 and currently held at the Pinacoteca Nazionale, Bologna.



Estimate: $5,000 - $7,000.

Condition Report*: The plaque with partial loss to proper right corner and subsequent horizontal hairlines, a second loss to proper left lower edge and more subsequent hairlines; the inscription VENITE ADOREMUS with horizontal cracks throughout words; the column's torus with two cracks; losses to enamel and gilt throughout, and otherwise presents well. No issues observed under 395 nm UV light.
