In his article The Art and Life of Rafael M. DeSoto for Illustration #10 (June 2006), pulp art historian David Saunders revealed that the prolific artist sometimes used pseudonyms such as "F. Mason" and "M. Francis" on his paintings, and as was the case here, sometimes signed them with "the puzzling name, 'Irene Endris.'"
