Jean-Jaques Sempé is most-remembered within the story of American illustration for his 114 cover illustrations for The New Yorker and his perceptive cartoons regarding American culture which were captured in Sempé in New York. The artist was equally adept at capturing the Bordeaux of his youth, which he explored in 2011's Enfances, in which Soir de Fetes appears as a two-page illustration.


Condition Report*: Toning throughout, visible lines along extreme edges of mat. Some faint stray marks and pin dots of pigment, inherent to the work. Framed under acrylic.
