    Description

    Lot of Three African Ethnographic Knives,Two African Ceremonial Swords & Three Scythe. Comprising three examples of curved ceremonial prestige knives from the Ngombe or Doko tribes of central Africa. All have hand forged blades with incised linework and carved wooden grips. One example with copper wire wrap. Lengths are 20 5/8-inches, 27 3/4-inches and 24-inches. Also included in this lot are two Royal ceremonial swords from the Bini tribe of Nigeria. Both are of brass and steel with stylistic blades and pommels. These swords appear to have been partially fashioned from salvaged elements. Lengths are 26 1/2-inches and 34 3/4-inches long. Condition: Both are good condition, showing age wear and patina. The knives also include three examples of scythe type knives from the tribes of Nsakara, north of the Uele river or the Yakoma or Bandia tribes of Zaire. All have hand forged steel blades with wooden or rattan grips. Lengths are 25 1/2-inches, 22 1/2-inches and 21 1/2-inches. Condition: All are good to very good, showing age wear, pitting, minor surface rust, chips, cracks and dark patina.
