Buenos Aires native Vicente Forte shaped a successful career as an abstract painter and printmaker. A student of Emilio Pettoruti, he was appointed professor at the National Academy of Fine Arts in 1935 and, during the 1940s, broadened his art training on travels throughout Europe. Together with fellow Argentine Leopoldo Presas, Forte formed the artists' group "Orion," popular in 1940s South America. His awards include the First Prize for Painting in the 1951 Salon of Watercolor, Pastel, and Printmaking in Buenos Aires; the 1959 Prize of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and the Grand Prize of Honor in the 1962 National Salon in Buenos Aires.
