Description

    Blue Calcite Lamp
    Andes Mountains
    Argentina
    South America

This lamp needs little explanation as the image speaks for itself. The fixture was crafted from the same rare blue Calcite material as Lots 72164 and 72165. This mineral, found in a remote region of the Andes Mountains, was formed millions of years ago and has now been cut and polished into a magnificent lapidary work of art. Both decorative and functional, this modern rectangular shaped lamp features striking blue hues of varying shades of dark blues to lighter bluish-greens intersected by twisting and dramatic streaks of pale cinnamon colored layers intermixed with patches of white. When lit the brown banding almost jumps off the blue surface resulting in an eye-catching piece of art. The lamp itself has a soffit armature which holds two standard socket lightbulbs. This finished lapidary piece of art is in excellent condition and could act as a focal point in any space.
