This intriguing piece is an example of rare Youngite - a variety of Agate composed of Agate (or Jasper) coated with drusy Quartz crystals. Youngite comes from only one location and is no longer mined such that the supply is finite. Found only near Guernsey, Wyoming, it comes from agatized limestone breccia clasts that have re-healed with bluish-gray chalcedony and drusy Quartz as is evidenced with this piece. As an added bonus, Youngite specimens will fluoresce (glow) green under ultraviolet (UV) or black light.
