Description

Rock Crystal Skull Statue: "Top Hat Gentleskull"
    Artist: Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio
    Stone Source: Madagascar

The presence of a top hat is always a guarantee of gentility. Just ask the skull who wears one. Good breeding prevents him from extolling his virtues, but we have no need for such reticence. His aristocratic mien is the consequence of a Madagascan Rock Crystal brainpan: free from delusions, inclusions, or unseemly conclusions, in keeping with his proper upbringing. The colorless transparency of his demeanor is a tribute to the keen eye of his creator, Luis Quispe Aparicio: a man of infinite jest, and no small talent. The top hat that crowns his estimable visage is fashioned from Snowflake Obsidian, be-spotted by a light sprinkling of snow, as he steps out of the lobby and down the stairs, to find the hansom, that will take him back to the family tomb after escaping from another stultifying performance of Das Rheingold with his nephew as Wotan. Affixed to the front of his headgear is the family cartouche, rendered in white and gray Howlite, with vermeil accents. This fine Gentleskull looks out over his domain, while resting on a golden vertebral column rising from the depths of an Obsidian platform, adorned with small Obsidian skulls mounted in vermeil.
    Overall Measurements: 12.0 x 8.3 x 8.3 inches (30.5 x 21 x 21 cm)

Provenance: The Faces of Eternity Skull Collection

    Estimate: $8,000 - $12,000.
