This is a large, spectacular cut and polished free-form section of a superb Rhodochrosite stalactite from Argentina. This 360-degree specimen exhibits the iconic concentric growth patterning with distinct core "eyes." The color is a bold, highly saturated pinkish-red, and some of the light yellowish brown stalactitic rind is still present near the top. The vibrant example is highly dynamic and has a high polish over its undulating surface. The hefty specimen weighs 6.7 pounds (3 kilograms) due to a high concentration of Manganese which also contributes to the red coloration. This is a very dramatic, impactful, and noteworthy specimen of the famous material from an iconic locality still popular today with collectors.
