DescriptionPolished Labradorite Sculpture
Province of Labrador
This fine sculpture features Labradorite from the original source: the tribal lands of Labrador, Canada - in fact its name was derived from this location. Adding to its rarity is the fact that the availability of any material from this source has been low; because of exploitation of the site by outsiders in the past, mining in the region was discontinued and discouraged. This sculpted piece exhibits an unusually fine crystal size that is not normally seen. This finely polished specimen displays a light body color tending towards a neutral gray. The schiller, or adularescence, is characterized by small, sharply defined flashes of blue, gold and green winking on and off in a random pattern, against a reticulated background, as the sculpture is rotated on its freestanding base.

It would indeed have been much simpler to work with a local auction house, and we had local options. But we never once regretted going with Heritage.View More Testimonials
