    Description

    Polished Azurite
    Bisbee, Warren District
    Mule Mts, Cochise Co.
    Arizona, USA

This incredibly large example of Azurite is unique as it is a representation of all the key secondary Copper minerals known for coming out of the Bisbee mine: Azurite, Malachite and Cuprite. This is an important historical piece and was personally collected and polished by the late but legendary Joel Hauser. The main face displays all the important minerals represented in the mine from the striking blue Azurite to the rich green Malachite and deep maroon colored Cuprite. All of these secondary Copper minerals are highlighted by the interesting polish and contouring on this piece with its rolling hills and shine. Joel Hauser was known for his innovative and groundbreaking lapidary techniques as well as his numerous articles in gem and mineral publications. This extremely large plate weighs an impressive 50 pounds (23 kg) and demonstrates how all these minerals display harmoniously together. Overall, this is an outstanding specimen with a lot of value due to its provenance and significance for the collecting community.
    Overall Measurements: 15.50 x 13.00 x 3.00 inches (39.37 x 33.02 x 7.62 cm)

    Provenance: Ex. Joel Hauser Collection
