    Description

    LARGE RAINFOREST JASPER SPHERE
    Mount Hay, Queensland, Australia
Jasper is an impure variety of silica, usually more or less uniform in color, but the rainforest jasper from Australia is a riot of different shades, forming beautiful and intricate patterns. This example is a particularly large sphere, hewn from one solid block, and displaying a wonderful array of greens, blues, pink and brown, with orange spots and veins and numerous agatized cavities in the surface. Rainforest jasper is more specifically known as spherulitic rhyolite, volcanic in origin and highly acidic, often with this beautiful orbicular or spherulitic composition. In crystal healing it is considered to balance the Yin and Yang (masculine/feminine) energies, to assist with communication and even to be a cleansing agent for the liver. This large and beautiful example measures 13 inches in diameter.
