Henbury Meteorite Folding Pocket Knife
    Iron - IIIAB
    Northern Territory, Australia - (24° 34'S, 133° 10'E)

The meteorite used to create the handle on this folding knife fell to Earth approximately 5,000 years ago in the Northern Territory of Australia. This knife's material has come full circle as it was reported that Aborigines once used metallic tools (from this meteorite) and now it is being used as a modern day "stone" tool. The Henbury meteorite accent on the handle measures 2.5 x 0.62 inches (6.5 x 1.6 cm) and shows the distinct Widmanstätten crisscross pattern of this impressive iron, medium octrahedrite meteorite. The blade was manufactured by the popular hunting company Browning and has the Browning Natural Buckmark. The blade measures 2.75 x 0.78 inches (7 x 2 cm). When folded, the knife measures 3.54 x 1.06 inches (9 x 2.7 cm). The knife scales have indications of iron staining which is typical with this type of meteorite; otherwise, it is in excellent condition. It is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
    Overall Measurements: 6.3 x 1.3 x 0.5 inches (16.0 x 3.2 x 1.3 cm)
    Offered at no reserve.

It would indeed have been much simpler to work with a local auction house, and we had local options. But we never once regretted going with Heritage.
