Mount McRae Shale, Hamersley Basin, Pilbara, Western Australia
This superb sculpture has been meticulously carved out of Printstone, or "Newsprint" Jasper. This silicate sandstone is found near the mining town of Tom Price in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.This specimen from the Mount McRae Shale in the Hamersley Basin has been sculpted into a natural contemporary artwork which can also be viewed in any direction, as it is stunning from all 360 degrees. It exhibits a myriad of colors including browns, tans, creams and a lovely rich rusty orange, which blankets this mesmerizing natural work of art - it is hard to imagine how Mother Nature created this mosaic of color. The free-form sculpture stands vertically on its own and is in excellent condition.
Overall Measurements: 10.5 x 8 x 19.25 inches (26.67 x 20.32 x 48.9 cm), weighs 69 lb. (31.29 kg)
