Dryhead Agate Mine
3.46 x 3.14 x 0.42 inches (8.8 x 8 x 1.07 cm)
Dryhead Agates, popular among collectors, come from a very remote area of Montana with most having been collected in the 1980's. The good nodules, of which this fine example is surely one, feature the two basic colors of red and orange along with gold, white, yellow, and pink. This coater size specimen simply looks cool and unique. It is a classic sample of the prized material from near the Bighorn Canyon area of Carbon County. Dryhead Agates were actually named after many bison skulls found near the mining site.
