This substantial sculpture, carved by a master Chinese lapidary, was fashioned from a single rough specimen of black Jade. The bear is realistically modeled, its muscular form and stance captured with precision and lifelike presence. The surface is expertly polished, and the minutely rendered texture gives the thick "coat of fur" a soft sheen that enhances depth and realism. Presented on a custom wood base, the carving reflects both technical mastery and naturalistic artistry, qualities that distinguish the finest jade animal sculptures.
