Description
Backgammon Set with Board and PiecesStone Source: Petrified Wood: Arizona, USA
Tiger's-Eye: Western Australia, Australia
Artist: Konstantin Libman
A superb marriage of natural history and fine craftsmanship, this exceptional backgammon set is a functional work of art fashioned from an extraordinary assemblage of gemstones drawn from across the globe. The exterior is composed of highly polished slabs of Arizona Petrified Wood, each panel displaying rich, ancient hues and intricate grain patterns formed over millions of years. The hinged case opens to reveal a luminous interior crafted from golden Tiger's-Eye sourced from exotic Western Australia, its chatoyant fibers radiating warmth and depth. Inlaid along the playing field are white and black Nephrite "points", originating from the Baikal region of Russia, their sharp triangular geometry providing an elegant visual rhythm against the golden background. The thirty-seven backgammon pieces, likewise carved from contrasting white and black Nephrite, continue the refined balance of tone and texture that defines the set. A remarkable fusion of global mineral heritage and meticulous artistry, this luxurious backgammon set is as captivating to display as it is to play. (Dice not included).
