Description"Gem" Yellow Cat Agate Pair
Brushy Basin Member, Morrison Formation
Collectors, at least the more serious ones, will be familar with "Yellow Cat" Agate which is a form of Petrified Wood. It is part of the Jurassic Morrison Formation, so well known for producing fossils of major Dinosaurs. This material from Utah is characterized by intense reds, oranges, and yellows which are certainly apparent in this small pair of polished, end cut pieces. The couple are from a single nodule, and the colorful patterns on the polished surfaces evidence this as they match precisely. "Yellow Cat" Petrified Wood is a rare form of fortification Agate highly sought after by collectors.
