Carved from haunting Petrified Wood from Utah, dating back to the Triassic some 200 million years ago, this box is covered with exquisite "ring" patterning from an ancient tree. The varying shades are calming earth tones including, blue, gray, cream, brown and black. All of these colors were created when traces of Quartz and other constituents combined with Silica to replace the organic cells of the original wood. The lid features a striking book-matched pattern fashioned by expert lapidary Konstantin Libman and includes artist number "0306" on the bottom. The box appears seamlessly matched on all sides and is complimented by Gold-plated brass hinges and is lined with Spanish Cedar. The decorative object is in excellent condition and is accompanied by a wooden exterior box.
