Description

Malachite with Chrysocolla Box
Stone Source: DR Congo
Artist: Konstantin Libman

A proficient lapidary created this incredible square-shaped box by cutting and polishing prized Malachite from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Malachite is mined there as a collector-grade material and is renowned by artists for its rich hue and impressive patterning. The talented artist, Konstantin Libman, used the organic and natural shape of the botryoidal crystal form to create a "flower" type centerpiece on the lid. Each of the four quadrants is perfectly matched to produce this visually striking design. The box is vibrant and features a rich green hue with stunning chatoyancy. The lighter teal color of the Chrysocolla is sporadically dispersed across each polished section creating dramatic contrast. This arresting utilitarian piece features the artist's serial number "0711" marked on the bottom and is finished with Gold-plated brass fittings and felt pads. It is in excellent condition, lined with Spanish Cedar, and comes with a custom outer wooden protective box. This is a phenomenal offering sure to garner a lot of attention.
Measurements: 5.59 x 5.51 x 1.77 inches (14.20 x 14.00 x 4.50 cm)
