    Large Shattuckite Box
Stone Source: Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre)
    Artist: Konstantin Libman

This one-of-a-kind box has been painstakingly handcrafted by master lapidary Konstantin Libman. This is evident by the precise matching of the natural design of the Shattuckite on the top and front. Shattuckite is a rare by-product of Copper. It contains the most spectacular shades of turquoise with patches of Malachite. This material has dark deep sea blues, to lighter hues of sky blue. Under closer inspection, there are pockets of "smoky" Quartz crystals in the top layers mixed between the turquoise colored "rivers." Since Shattuckite is a by-product of Copper, there are patches of earthy Copper seen throughout all surfaces which contrast beautifully against the rich blues. Despite the fact that Shattuckite is a secondary mineral of other secondary minerals, this box is the star. This piece would serve as a brilliant accent piece in anyone's home and is in excellent condition with serial number "0333" on the bottom. It is finished with gold-plated brass fittings, a Spanish Cedar wood lining and is accompanied by a velvet lined presentation box.
