    Description

    Lapidary

    Fluorescent Box
Stone Source: Sterling Mine, Sterling Hill, Ogdensburg, Franklin Mining District, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA and South Ural, Russia
    Artist: Konstantin Libman

The Franklin Ore Body is one of the most mineralogically complex locations in the world. No wonder artist Konstantin Libman used mineral material from this location to create this functional box. The lid has a slice of fluorescent Willemite, Calcite and non-fluorescing Franklinite. The box itself is made of black Diabase (Dolerite) with shimmering specks of Tachylite. When viewed in daylight, the lid is mostly white with sections of black and brown, but when viewed under short-wave ultraviolet light, the white Calcite glows a striking orangey-red segregated by patches of black Franklinite with sporadic green Willemite. This mini treasure box is in excellent condition and is accompanied by a protective outer box.
    Overall Measurements: 3.27 x 2.17 x 1.34 inches (8.30 x 5.50 x 3.40 cm)
    Offered at no reserve.

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
