    The Picket Fence is a view out of the Onderdonk home at 128 French Place looking across the street to the Chandler home. Julian included the Chandler house in a number of paintings hid did shortly after returning to Texas.

    This work by Julian Onderdonk comes from the collection of Julian's grand-daughter, Eleanor Gould Onderdonk Limpert, which includes paintings, plein-air oil sketches, pencil sketches, drawings, and diagrams, giving fascinating insights into Julian's artistic process, many revealing the staggering amounts of planning, preparation, and skill needed to create his major landscape paintings. That they can all stand alone as compelling artworks is another testament to his talent.
