A Nepalese Semi-Precious Stone Inlaid Gold and Gilt Copper Alloy Amulet Necklace, circa 1800
14-1/2 inches long (36.8 cm) (excluding cord)

Pacific Asia Museum, Jewels of the Orient, March 21-25, 1984.

The necklace composed of five pendants and spacing beads on a silk cord, inlaid with a variety of semiprecious stones including rubies, emeralds, garnets, turquoise, and coral, the center amulet adorned in eight-armed Mahakala wielding the sword, vajra, bell and other attributes, with consort on his knee, and two reclining beasts in front, all on a lotus base, flanked by smaller pendants and two peanut shaped beads.

Condition Report*: Expected light rubbing to the gilt surfaces, central amulet appears to be missing a few stones to the outer border, cord appears to be of a later vintage.
