    Isaac H. Bonsall (American, 1833-1909)

    Initially an apprentice to the great Matthew Brady, Bonsall served in the Army of the Cumberland as a photographer from September 1862. This image was taken during the Union Army's six-month siege of Chattanooga. Following the Civil War, Bonsall ran a photography studio in Cincinnati, later relocating to Arkansas City, Kansas in 1872.
