Gaston Sebire was born August 18, 1920, in Saint-Samson, France. After studying fine art, Sebire worked for the postal service from 1936 to 1944, choosing the night shift to allow him to paint during the day. He settled in Paris in 1951, participating in many solo and group exhibitions, including the Salon of Independents, Salon of Tuileries and Salon of French Artists. He also appeared at international shows in Chicago, Japan, London, Munich, New York, and Washington. He won the Critic's Prize in 1953, the Greenshields Prize in 1957, and the Salon of French Artists' gold medal in 1968. Today his work can be seen in museums in Paris, Rouen, and Trouville, France.
