Born in Marseille, Annette Ollivary studied at the Academie Julian in Paris where she developed a technical mastery of painting and compositional design. Many of her works, such as Le Petit Pêcheur (The Little Fisherman), reflect the memory of youthful days spent on her family's farm in Burgundy. With its stylized forms, carefully crafted composition, and precise brushwork, this painting is an excellent example of Ollivary's work.
