This painting is one of Whelan's absolute masterpieces and was published as the wrap-around dust jacket art for the 40th Anniversary edition of The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury, (Doubleday, 1990). It was also reproduced as the cover for the Bantam paperback edition of the classic science fiction novel (circa 1992).
