    Grossular Garnet
Vesper Peak, Snohomish Co., Washington, USA

Garnets from Washington State are one of those "holy grails" of collecting USA classics, but there are simply so few of any real value in a worldwide sense compared to Garnets from other locales. The best ones were said to have been collected by a team including Bart Cannon back in the 1970s to early-1980s. This is almost certainly one of those specimens and is in any case historic and not contemporary. This is a superb, three-dimensional plate of intergrown, gemmy, cinnamon-colored Grossular Garnets that exhibit a super glassy luster in crystals up to 8 mm. There is some minor Diopside in association, primarily as part of the matrix. This is a significant USA garnet specimen and yields from the famous collection of German dealer and collector, Dr. Hans Jürgen Wilke, from Eppertshausen, Germany.
