William Parker invented the Plasma Globe while studying at MIT in 1971. He has been an Artist-in-Residence at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, California and exhibited at the MIT Museum, Cambridge, MA and the New York Hall of Science. While plasma globes similar to his designs became commercially popular beginning in the late 1980s, this edition is a rare early version of his groundbreaking work.
