This Venus sculpture is a product of Salvador Dali's conceptualization of "paranoiac-critical activity." His neoclassical, surrealist figures became narcissistic, hysterical, oneiric, and spectral. According to Salvador Dali: "All the drawers had to be put in a plump body that had not yet experienced the Christian invention of a guilty conscience. This sculpture might cure us of psychoanalysis".
