    AN AMERICAN CORALENE BELLE WARE GLASS JEWELRY BOX
    Carl V. Helmschmied, c.1905

    Raised on four shaped metal feet with lion's mask, the cylindrical glass body swells to a high, flat shoulder bezel-mounted with hinged metal collar, the conforming flat-topped glass lid opening to reveal a silk-lined interior, the exterior decorated with polychrome enamel depiction of bearded blue iris beneath a continuous covering of coralene bead, hand-painted maker's mark to underside: Belle/Ware.
