    A FRENCH ART GLASS VASE
    Burgun, Schverer & Cie, Alsace-Lorraine, Circa 1900
    Marks: (thistle) (cross of Lorraine) / VERRERIE D'ART DE LORRAINE / B S & Co / déposé
    10-1/4 inches (26.0 cm) high

    Tapering in form, amber in color with enameled and gilt decoration, the obverse with a cameo cut and enameled scene from Greek mythology based on Walter Crane's Echoes of Hellas, the interior marked by a patterned curtain between two columns, depicting a bearded warrior carrying an infant, embraced by a draped woman, the reverse with a diagonal band of cameo cut animals including rabbits, boars, and panthers, a band of cameo cut and enameled guilloche encircling the shoulders, palmettes on the neck, the vase decorated overall with enameled flowers and geometric designs
