Olmiite is a rare mineral and, even rarer as a gemstone. Originally identified as Poldervaartite, to whom it is very closely related, the rough for this unusual gem was found in 2004 in the N'Chwaning I Mine. This is an enormous gemstone for the species (31.75 ct.) and is a translucent peachy, brownish orange that has been fashioned as a triangular stone with a step cut facet arrangement. Mike Gray, of Coast-to-Coast Rare Stones, used his considerable talents to cut this fine gem.
