DescriptionVery Fine Gemstone: Tourmaline var. Rubellite - 29.44 Ct.
Lundazi District, Eastern Province, Zambia
Tourmaline has caught fire in the modern gem market and the reasons for its popularity are easily understood: it comes in all colors, gems can be large, and the material is durable in daily wear. The round brilliant seen here is that shade of red, with magenta highlights, referred to as "Rubellite" for its similarity to Ruby. The rough was found in 1965 and Hilmar Bosch, a Zambian cutter, cut the 29+ carat beauty. It is eye clean except for a small inclusion under the girdle.
Measurements: 18.96 x 18.96 x 13.93 mm, 29.44 cts.
Offered at no reserve.
Provenance: Rainbow of Africa Collection
