DescriptionUNUSUAL GEMSTONE: BI-COLOR BERYL - 153 CT. GEM "SCULPTURE"
Wolodarsk, Wolynskiy, Ukraine
Not a "gem" as much as a free form, miniature sculpture fashioned from bi-color Beryl. The basal portion shows the pale, green-gold coloration characteristic of Heliodor from Wolodarsk in the Ukraine, while the upper section exhibits a very faint blue tint, which would qualify it as Aquamarine. There is a possibility that one of the two colors is due to some kind of treatment, but such a determination will require a gem analysis laboratory. Although the polish is quite good, the faceting appears to be of a "free-hand" variety that is not quite symmetrical. Clarity is excellent with only a few "veil" type inclusions.
Overall measurements: 62.5 mm long, 153 ct. Offered at no reserve.
Provenance: Geokey [Hoppel Catalog # G0064]
[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
