Discovered relatively recently, in 1967, the blue-purple variety of Zoisite referred to as "Tanzanite" is one of the hotter items on the gem market today. The best stones such as this trillion style gemstone displays a deep blue violet coloration with occasional flashes of reddish purple. Increasing costs in mining and decreasing production have had the effect of driving prices higher over time, making Tanzanite one of the better bets in gem investing these days. This eye-clean trillion measures 14.4 x 14.3 x 13.9 mm and weighs 13.07 cts.
