Yellow Smithsonite is sometimes referred to as Cadmium Smithsonite, a nod to its origin of color. Single crystal material like this is difficult to find in sizes large enough to facet, so this particular square cut example is truly rare and would be a wonderful addition to the collector's cabinet. Faceted by Tony Mittelmeyer of Cape Town, South Africa, from rough that was found in 1963.
Measurements: 13.59 x 12.59 x 11.21 mm, 21.98 cts.
