DescriptionRare Gemstone: Thaumasite - 2.15 Ct.
N'Chwaning I Mine, Kuruman
Kalahari Manganese Field
Northern Cape Province
Occurring as radiating compact fibrous crystal clusters, it is quite rare to see faceted Thaumasite such as this elongated octagonal example. Due to the soft nature of the stone, it is exceedingly difficult to cut and it took a master lapidary to fashion this gem. It has a brilliant cut which create a striking brilliance to the stone with its sublte yellow hue. This beautiful stone is in excellent condition and should be revered.
Measurements: 13.60 x 5.80 x 5.30 mm, 2.15 cts.
Provenance: Rainbow of Africa Collection
