Eosphorite comes from the Greek where "eosphoros" - dawn breaking, referring to the pink colour of the first specimens studied. It occurs worldwide typically as a secondary mineral in pegmatites - not as a gemstone. At 9.33 carats, this oval gemstone is very large for the species. It has numerous veils and inclusions, perfectly acceptable for such a rare gemstone. In excellent condition.
