DescriptionRARE GEMSTONE: COLOR CHANGE FLUORITE - 169.43 CT.
A number of gemstones have the exotic property of "color change," a formal term in gemology that indicates a shift in apparent color of a given gemstone induced by changes in the color temperature of the light used to view the stone. In practical terms this is usually defined by changes in a gemstones appearance under: artificial light (fluorescent, incandescent, candlelight, etc.) versus natural daylight. The intensity of the effect can range from very subtle to quite obvious. In the case of this extremely large emerald cut Fluorite, the color change goes from a pale lavender tint under incandescent or candlelight, to a powder blue under daylight or similar color temperature illumination. This very large gem is eye-clean, bright, well proportioned, and well polished.
