Displaying a vivid orangey red bodycolor with subtle pink undertones, this striking Zircon from Tanzania radiates the warm, ember-like tones for which the variety is admired. The gemstone's naturally high refractive index produces exceptional subadamantine luster, excellent brilliance, and strong scintillation, giving the stone a remarkable visual impact. Fashioned into a bold fantasy shape with sharp, linear faceting, the gem reflects the work of a highly skilled lapidary. Zircon can be brittle and challenging to fashion, making well-cut stones of this scale particularly noteworthy. Originating from East Africa's alluvial deposits, an important modern source for gem Zircon, this example was cut from a crystal capable of producing a substantial finished stone.
