Pleochroic examples of Tourmaline are some of the most prized based on natural color zoning. This fine example is not only large, weighing nearly 95 carats, but it also displays distinct zoning, which creates a captivating work of art. The visible colors resulted from different chemical compositions when the stone was formed deep in the earth. This particular example features a classic elongated octagonal shape with step-cut faceting. Tourmalines lend themselves to this shape due to the way rough crystal grows. The stone has an overall great cut, polish, and proportions. The main attribute is the varying and distinct colors: green, yellow, and pinkish orange. There are only a few minor abrasions to the facet junctions, but, overall, the stunning stone is in very good condition, is eye-clean, and is accompanied by GIA Report #1439322785. This is a top example of the coveted variety.
