The rarest and most valuable of the Garnet group, Russian Demantoid Garnets are renowned for their rich hues, historical significance, unique inclusions, and superior color quality. Substantial in weight for the variety, this remarkable 4.21-carat stunner of the Andradite species showcases a classic modified round brilliant cut. Displaying a subadamantine polish, the stone exhibits a few flashes of 'fire' against a well-balanced and highly saturated green bodycolor. The outstanding gem is very slightly included, revealing its numerous 'horsetail' inclusions under magnification-an entrancing feature that adds to the fine gemstone's overall allure. The cut is only slightly askew, with a few small nicks along a few facet junctions, but the stone remains in excellent condition. Russian Demantoid Garnets of this size and exceptional color are exceedingly rare and seldom seen on the market. Out of a private collection, this top example is accompanied by an AGL (American Gemological Laboratories) Prestige Gemstone Report attesting to its superior characteristics.
