    Description

    Garnet

Gemstone: Pyrope - Spessartine Garnet - 21.33 Cts.
    Tanzania

From the locality known for producing Pyralspite Garnet, which is, essentially, a combination of Pyrope, Almandine, and Spessartine, examples of "Mahenge" Garnet that can result in a brilliance unlike all other varieties can occur. This gemstone weighs an astonishing 21.33 carats and features a vibrant coloration with an amazing reddish-purple hue with hints of orange. The gem has natural crystal and Rutile needle inclusions along with a minor feather breaking on the crown, which is not visible without magnification. A modern cushion cut adds to the allure of this singular gemstone that offers elegance, color, and size. This "best of the best" gemstone could be considered one of the largest, "flawless" "Mahenge" Garnets in the world, and the exceptional gem exhibits color second to none. In every way, this represents as fine a Garnet as to ever have come from this world-renowned mine site then end up masterfully crafted into a gemstone.
    Measurements: 17.90 x 16.03 x 9.98 mm, 21.33 cts.

    Provenance: The Jena Blue Collection
